The Aztecs

Who were the Aztecs? 

The Aztecs were an ancient civilization in the Americas.  They existed from the early 1300s when they established their first settlement to the 1500s when the Spanish came and conquered them.  Their empire was very large, covering a lot of Mexico and the surrounding areas.  The Aztecs were very capable fighters and started out very small, eventually getting larger and larger by conquering nearby lands.  They were also very religious and were known for performing many human sacrifices.
