The King
The Aztecs were led by an all powerful king. The king had five advisors, four generals and one prime minister. Although there was no true central empire, the king maintained strong control using the threat of military force.
War
The main reason Aztecs went to war was to gain tribute, goods paid as taxes, and for prisoners to sacrifice.
